Social Factors As predictors of cancer Among Adults In Ijebu Ode local Government Area Of Ogun State

The increasing rate of cancer incident in the community due to people's negligence and social factors prompted this study to evaluate the awareness of adults in IjebuOde Local Government Area of Ogun State on the causes and predisposing factors of cancer. Three hundred (300) randomly selected participants (150 males and 150 females)responded to thevalidated research instrument.Three hypotheses tested in the study. Descriptive statistics of frequency count and percentage were used to analysed the demographic information while inferential statistics of Chi-Square (X2) at 0.05 level of significance was used to test the hypotheses. The findings suggestedthat the adults are significantly aware of the causes and predisposing factors of cancer. It was recommended that health education programme should be periodically organized for adults on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) for the purpose of reducing incidence of cancer complication.
